POEMS FROM MY BOOK-Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia -A Life in Poems
SOUTHERN LIFE
If you want a glimpse of Southern life,
Come close and walk with me;
I'll tell you all the simple things,
That you are sure to see.
You'll see mockingbirds and bumblebees,
Magnolia blossoms and dogwood trees,
Caterpillars on the step,
Wooden porches cleanly swept;
Watermelons on the vine,
Strong majestic Georgia pines;
Rocking chairs and front yard swings,
Junebugs flying on a string;
Turnip greens and hot cornbread,
Coleslaw and barbecue;
Fried okra, fried corn, fried green tomatoes,
Fried pies and pickles, too.
There's ice cold tea that's syrupy sweet,
And cool, green grass beneath your feet;
Catfish nipping in the lake,
And fresh young boys on the make.
You'll see all these things
And much, much more;
In a way of life,that I adore.

SOUTHERN MAN
There's nothing like a Southern man,
He's a man that you should know;
He's one to whom you'll find no equal,
Anywhere you go.
He has a sweet, molasses talk
And a slow, smooth gliding walk.
He has strong, firm hands that let you know,
Real work is nothing new;
He has no problem with the fact,
That he should provide for you.
There are certain kinds of values
This man is sure to hold
His love of home and family
Is sure to not grow cold.
He'll deeply love his mother,
It's a bond that's always there;
All throughout his life, this man,
Will show her tender care.
He's one that you can count on,
To do the manly things;
He'll change the tire and check the oil,
And fix the back yard swing.
But, underneath a tough exterior,
A gentle soul lies, too;
He's one who'll rock the baby
And even cook a meal for you,
On Sundays, he'll sit beside you singing,
On the same church pew.
There's nothing like a Southern man,
He's a rare and special kind;
If you look forever, anywhere,
He's the best you'll ever find.
LET'S
Let's go for a ride in the countryside,
And make lots of stops along the way;
Let's soak in all the warm sunshine,
And create a perfect day.
Let's stop at someone's roadside stand,
And maybe buy some fruit;
Let's pretend it's some great find,
Just like a pirate's loot.
Let's go inside a country store,
And have some bologna cut;
Let's sit outside and eat our fare,
Like some treasure from King Tut.
Let's always enjoy life's simple things,
And to their full extent;
Let's always spend these kinds of times,
And make it our intent.

POEMS OF INSPIRATION /ENCOURAGEMENT FROM ME TO YOU:
CONSULATION
If you're always thinking the sky is falling,
And are a Henny Penny like the old version of me;
Somebody needs to let you know,
"What will be, will be".
No matter how dark the path may look,
Or even how scarey the way;
Be reminded constantly,
Tomorrow's a brand new day.
Though many things may go arie,
Regardless of all the rest;
The sun will most assuredly rise in the east,
And most definitely set in the west.
The sun'll come out tomorrow,
I know, it most certainly will;
You can't get caught up in worry,
Just continue to climb up that hill.
Keep your wits about you,
And negative thoughts at bay;
Maintain a positive attitude,
And it certainly wouldn't hurt to pray.
There's light at the end of the tunnel,
And a rainbow at the end of the storm;
But, somehow, we seem to reason,
That to worry is simply the norm.
My mantra is, "It's not that serious",
It really never is;
They say don't sweat the small stuff,
But, it's all small through eyes like HIS.
When you 've done all that YOU can do,
You've done ALL that you can do;
Somehow, you must remember,
It's simply not up to you.
I know you've heard the song that says
The battle is not yours;
You must somehow realize,
It's to the Lord deferred.
God says in His word not to worry,
For who by worrying can possibly add
One cubic to his statue
Or even one single hair to his head.
It's really just that simple,
You do what you can do;
Then give all else to the Lord,
And he'll take care of you.

THE ROCK (OF AGES)
When troubles and trials come your way,
And all your hope seem pale;
The comfort found in trusting God;
Is one that never fails.
He's the first and final answer,
In every conflict and every woe;
He is the sure and solid rock,
The one that you should know.
When fear threatens to overtake your life
And put you in a bind;
God is the number one defense ,
To clear and ease the mind.
Through God's strength you can overcome,
Any giant, any enemy or foe;
He's the weapon of choice,
In this fight called life;
If victory you are to know.

FEAR(LESS)
Fear not, my little ones, He says,
Don't worry and don't fret;
I will supply your every need,
And make sure each one is met.
David testified that from young to old,
He was protected, clothed and fed;
And never saw the righteous forsaken,
Or his seed ever begging bread.
Paul proclaimed that no matter the task,
Ones sure belief should be;
That I can do and endure all things,
Through Christ who strengthens me.
Daniel, even in the lions den,
Told anyone who had an ear;
That his God was able to deliver him,
And in this, he had no fear.
All throughout God's holy writ
We are assured most confidently;
As children in His kingdom,
He'll care for you and me.
It's clear that we should always trust,
And never have need for fear;
For He'll guard, protect and shield us
Through his providential care.

Raise your finger and tip out quietly
To be dismissed
Giving honor to God....
Whosonever will..let him come.

Let the will of the Lord be done.

Your poems are so awesome. I thank God for your gift. Reading your work and knowing that you have gotten your work published is such an inspiration for me. I have written plays, skits, dances, songs but I have not gone any further with them. I would love your advice or whatever God leads you to share with me.
Be Blessed.
And may God's peace overtake you.
Yours because of Christ,
Adriann Bautista
